Completion Rate
How completion rate is calculated
Your completion rate is calculated by dividing the number of referrals you've received and completed by the total number of referrals you've received. That percentage is then multiplied by 25 to get your score.
For example: if you've received 10 referrals and completed 8 of them, your completion rate is 80% and your score is 20 points. If you've completed all 10, your rate is 100% and your score is the full 25 points.
Completion rate is the most telling factor in the trust score. It measures whether you follow through when a partner trusts you with their customer.
What counts as "completed"?
A referral is marked completed when you mark the job as done in Referly and enter the final job value. Both steps are required. A job that was done but never marked complete in the platform doesn't count toward your completion rate — and doesn't trigger your partner's referral fee calculation.
This is worth noting: marking jobs complete isn't just good for your trust score. It's also what triggers the fee calculation for your partner. Not marking jobs complete is the most common reason referral fees don't get paid on Referly.
Does declining a referral hurt my completion rate?
No. Declined referrals are not counted against your completion rate. Only referrals you accept are counted. If you accept a referral and then abandon it — never marking it in progress, never completing it — that does hurt your completion rate.
This is by design. Declining a referral honestly is far better than accepting it and letting it disappear. When you decline, your partner knows immediately and can send the referral elsewhere. When you accept and abandon, your partner's customer is left waiting and your partner's reputation is at risk.
How to maintain a high completion rate
- Only accept referrals you can handle. If you're slammed and can't take new work, decline promptly. Your partner will respect the honesty far more than the silence.
- Mark jobs in progress when you start. This keeps your partner informed and starts the accountability chain.
- Mark jobs complete as soon as they close. Don't let completed jobs sit unmarked. It takes 30 seconds and it triggers your partner's fee.
- Enter accurate job values. The fee calculation is based on the value you enter. Underreporting shortchanges your partner. Accurate reporting builds trust.
What if a job falls through after I accept?
It happens. Customers change their minds, scopes change, projects get canceled. If a job falls through after you've accepted the referral, mark it accordingly in Referly and add a note. Your partner will see the update, and the situation will be reflected accurately in your history. Transparent communication about fallen-through jobs does far less damage to your reputation than silence.
